How To Focus the Polar Scope Type A
Focusing the polar scope is separated in 2 steps: Focusing the reticle - Simply look through the finderscope and rotate the eyepiece ring clockwise or counterclockwise until the reticle is sharp. Note that it's important to focus your eye on...

Best Practices For Optimal Star Tracking Result With MSM

There are two types of star tracker out there, one of which has counterweight (or sometimes called balance weight) attached on the other side of the tracker rotational axis, while the other doesn't. M...

Move Shoot Move star tracker is really good and affordable.

I’ve only had the opportunity to use the Move Shoot Move rotator a few times due to weeks of cloudy skies where I live however, the few times the skies cleared I was able to put this tracker through its paces.
First of all, it is an affordable quality product that is well engineered and simple to use. It is perfect for throwing it in my backpack and hiking due to its light weight, small profile and portability. Having the option of using the polar scope or laser pointer makes it much easier and quicker to polar align.
The tracker worked perfectly for both wide field Astro and deep sky objects however, using long and heavy telephoto lenses will be problematic due to weight limitations.
This tracker can be used in your backyard but it really shines if you’re going to take it hiking with you.
Looking forward to many years of shooting Astro with this tracker.
I also purchased the ingenious “V” and “Z” leveling brackets from Alyn Wallace for mounting my camera gear to be able to keep my camera level. These brackets are very well made and designed. It will make your life much easier and will ensure that your equipment remains level and allow you to quickly and safely swivel your camera in order to polar align.

Very Disappointed

Currently own the original MSM. Ordered new Nomad on FEb.2nd and still have not received as of March 4th! Several emails later Hanna said unit was sent back for some reason..WHAT! Funny its charge is on my latest credit card bill!! Terrible customer service!! Im ready to cancel the whole order!

Works well. I'm impressed.

While the paper instructions are not clear, and I was too impatient (and I had just one clear, moonless night before weather closed in, again) to try using the Nomad, so did not watch any videos, I had enough info to guess my way to setting the Nomad up, attach the Laser (the screw in attachment is slick) and try a few short star tracked photos - before I got too cold (think winter snow and ice). I need to play/experiment some more, to learn what camera settings work best for me, but I like the Nomad. Its is compact, solid and works. I have a fluid head, three ball heads to choose from and a solid tripod, so used those for support.

HSM and Nomad

I own both the MSM and Nomad. Plus, the L and Z mounting bases. The mounting bracket that came with the MSM that holds the laser and polar scope, is totally useless for calibrating the laser you need to bring back the laser only mount as used in your video on how to center the laser beam. Both units are great, just bring back the original laser ONLY mounting bracket. Bruce

No timelapse Funktion in the Nomad

No timelapse Funktion in the Nomad anymore. As a further Development it was Not sufficient Figuren out that this function is lost - my favorite functionality.

Nomad

This is a perfect little tracker works well with the laser pointer makes it so easy to line up with the pole star. You can carry it in your pocket or bag takes very little room.

Just simple - Just easy

Tried my MSM-Nomad the day after it arrived to track Orion which appeared clear in a winter sky. Aligning polaris with the laser took about under a minute and i was ready to go. Worked great. Easy.

Thank you

Huge improvement over the Rotator

The new Nomad tracker performs very well and corrects the major design deficiencies of the original MSM Rotator: the inconsistent and unreliable tracking, the tendency for components to twist loose under loads, potentially sending a camera crashing to the ground, and the confusing design where it could be mounted in different ways, but which way was best? The polar alignment accuracy has also been improved with better collimation of the laser and polar scope with the rotation axis. In tests with dozens of images with 85mm and 135mm lenses, about 50% of frames were very well tracked, 25% were slightly trailed but usable, and only 25% were trailed badly, a ratio similar to other trackers. With 15mm and 24mm lenses all frames out of dozens shot over two hours were perfect. It’s a compact unit that seems to be well built. Well done MSM!

MSM Nomad Rocks!

This is my first tracker, and I’ll be using it with Lumix M43 cameras. I’m testing now in preparation for the 2024 total lunar eclipse, and will be taking it out west soon for some Milky Way photography. So far everything is working just as it should.

Great product and great customer service

I really love the NOMAD star tracker and I am looking forward to having many clear, dark-sky nights ahead in the coming year and beyond. The new simplified design of the NOMAD and the way the laser and scope connect to the tracker is a great combination set up.
A special thanks to the customer service from Move Shoot Move. Thanks to H, I now have everything I need for my extended trip through the desert. Tnx
