Overview
In order for any star tracker to work the way it's designed, polar alignment has to be done in the first place. It is the act of aligning the rotation axis of a star tracker in parallel with Earth's self-spin axis. How do you know when your Move Shoot Move Star Tracker's rotation axis is aligned? Well, the Polar Scope we have here does just that!

How-tos
- Polar Alignment with Polar Scope (video)
- Reticle Calibration (This is not required for beginners. Be sure to read this tutorial before getting started. Applying too much force on adjustment screws may break reticle frame and we will NOT be responsible.)
The Polar Scope A is mandatory if you want good Polaris (NH) alignment. It is solidly built, but not bulky and has great optics and reticle markings. It mounts securely and conveniently to the upper left side of the NOMAD tracker. This should be the first accessory you obtain to get started quickly with the NOMAD!
The MSM Polar Scope adapter is a great product. It's all metal construction except for the screw which holds the Polar Scope. You can attach most polar scopes.
This item is very useful. Thanks!
The Nomad tracker is a big improvement over the old rotator tracker. The Nomad is small, portable, and tracks extremely well with lenses 85mm and less. Still testing the accuracy between the polar laser and polar scope to see which is more accuratae, but am happy for the 60 second tracked shots I am getting right now. Keep up the great work and inovation MSM!
Polar scope and laser. Because I’m a belt and suspenders kind of guy :-)
Although I only needed a few small parts for repairs and additions, I was able to order them easily and the delivery was perfect! Super service, thank you
Perfecto complemento para la alineacion polar; usando el puntero láser y el buscador polar, las estrellas salen perfectas.
Estoy muy contento con la adquisición. Lo recomiendo
Although using the laser pointer alone for polar alignment gives the ability to track with acceptable accuracy, adding the polar scope alignment has allowed me to use a 135mm lens for exposures of up to 2 minutes without noticeable trailing. The new illuminator makes it quite easy to use. Definitely worth the small extra investment!
I've been a long-time owner of a Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer Pro and have a love/hate relationship with the polar scope illuminator on that tracker. I got a MSM Nomad last fall, with the polar scope, glow-in-the-dark illuminator and a laser. The polar scope and glow-in-the-dark illuminator worked ok. This winter, I found out that you could order longer levers for the older design of V and Z brackets (which I have owned for about three years or so), I put them in my cart to refit each of my brackets. Looking around the MSM online store, I also found this handy-dandy illuminator! I have used it three times now, and I absolutely love it! Sky-Watcher could learn a thing or two from MSM when it comes to polar scope illuminators, that's for sure! Way to go, Move Shoot Move! I love my Nomad, and I love it even more now with an amazing illuminator for the polar scope!
