I love almost everything about the 3 way geared head except one flaw, that I find to be a real problem. The head sits so low to the base of the tripod that when you use the control for aiming up or down, the gear arm hit the base the tripod and restricts your movement. The movement is restricted to 8º. You can work around this by remounting the camera the opposite way when you hitting this wall, but it is a pain to have to that. Otherwise I like it a lot. It does take some getting used to if you are coming from a ball head.
Does what it needs to do. I use it as an alt/az mount for my tracker. Easy to center Polaris in the alignment scope.
All good!
SMS hit it out of the park with an affordable 3 way gear head.
Same features as the high end name brand but at nearly half the price! Excellent construction.
