Difference between NOMAD and MSM Rotator:

  1. Improved attachment points. The previous manufacturing tolerances were fine for Astro-landscape but deep-sky needs a firmer foundation.

    1. The MSM Rotator, due to its design, required specific weight positioning to keep the ball head secure; this has been completely eliminated.

    2. The laser now screws into the tracker eliminating any chance of wobble.

    3. The industry standard quick-release plate on the bottom is secured in 2 places preventing any twisting of the tracker on its mount.

  2. Improved load capacity.

    1. The hardware has been built to withstand twice the amount of torque as the MSM Rotator.

    2. Where the MSM Rotator was only designed for wide-angle Astro-landscape, the NOMAD has been designed with wide-field deep-sky use in mind.

    3. Availability of an optional counterweight system for more experienced users to go even deeper.

  3. Simplified operation.  By designing and building a device with a narrower focus we were able to make it better while keeping the size down.

    1. One 3-position switch; Northern hemisphere, Southern, or Off.

    2. In order to improve on our goals of ease of use and portability, the non-tracker function of the MSM Rotator has been left off, greatly simplifying the operation of the new tracker.

    3. The NOMAD is focused on one function, star tracking.   (NOMAD does not have timelapse mode)

  4. Reduced size and weight.  A foremost feature of our trackers is portability.

    1. Our users take our trackers with them even when backpacking to some of the most remote areas of the world.

    2. We worked to make storing and transporting the tracker even easier so you'll always want to have it with you when traveling.

    3. The tracker is called NOMAD for a reason; it is designed to travel with you wherever you go.

Always with me.

A small but truly great device. Easy to carry with you at all times; simple functions, incredibly compact and lightweight. Perfect for those like me who travel often and don’t want to give up their passion for astrophotography, even while on the road. Highly recommended!

Moves Slowly

At first I thought it wasn't working because it didn't move, turns out it's just slower than you think. I set it up for a 10minute exposure and was amazed with results. You have to be on solid ground not your wooden deck and just let it do its thing. Definitely recommend with great customer service.

Lightweight, portable and easy to polar align

I've only been out a few times with my new Move Shoot Move Nomad, laser pointer and polar scope, but it's really a joy to be able to so easily setup, polar align and then start capturing frames.

The perfect star tracker!

It’s lightweight, easy to use but still so, so powerful!

Nice.

The product's built quality is good. I would like to see a non metallic phone holder. I was very positively surprised by the wedge's build quality.
The plastic bolt for attaching other accessories at the back of the tracker is not strong enough

Nomad star tracker

I chose the Nomad because I needed a star tracker that could be easily carried in my photography backpack. The Nomad is lightweight, precise, and easy to use.

good and sturdy tracker, but...

The tracker seems good and sturdy, unfortunately the ball head supplied is of poor quality and wobbly, I had to replace it. It's also a shame that the function of the previous model was removed, where you could halve the speed and take a shot with a single exposure.

MSM Nomad Southern Hemisphere kit

It’s such a great little tracker extremely easy to use and get set up. I highly recommend this tracker. The only minor issue I have had is they didn’t include the low gravity ball head and didn’t tell me it was on back order.

Best for Astro

Allows one to dwell on night sky subjects using low noise ISO levels. Easy to align to the North Star, Polaris, so MSM rotates your camera synchronously with Earth’s spin making the sky appear stationary. Stars are spot sharp without any streaking. Great product. Highly recommend.
