These mounts are well designed and well built. Together they provide versatility for balance and angles on a tripod
Up till now I only used it once but the setup was very simple and it was so easy to do the polar alignment. Pin sharp stars up to four minutes with a wide angle lens. Can’t wait to use it early 2023.
I bought the MoveShoot Move Z-plate to place it between the tracker and the camera’s ball head. I did this to allow myself additional flexibility aligning the camera to the target. With the latches firmly closed, the Z-plate is stiff and doesn’t not move although having it greatly extended can make it feel more flexible. I like the Z-plate and think it a good addition to my kit.
Después de utilizarlo varias veces puedo decir que es muy seguro además de útil.
La única pega que le encuentro es que se raya con mucha facilidad, sobre todo la base.
A great tool . Its the simple ideas that always work. Very nicely made, locks tightly amd simply works ! Great product.
I Love the MSM Rotator, being new to astrophotography the Msm Rotator fits my needs perfectly! Sometimes however, it takes a bit to “warm up” I guess. Sometimes it takes almost 15 mins before before I have Zero star trails. All in all a great rotator especially for newbies. SUPER EASY TO USE!!!
I purchased the Z mount to replace a far bulkier and heavier tripod head. It’s ability to tilt up/down and also pan for perfect stitched panoramic landscapes exceeded what my basic tripod head could do at a fraction of its weight and size. It’s build quality is excellent and more substantial than I expected. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase.
Excellent workmanship and design. I love the equipment! Such precision and
accuracy makes this equipment a perfect addition to my Move Shoot Move equipment compliment
No complains, sturdy enough, makes panoramas much easier, all and all just what i needed and would recommend to anyone who is thinking about buying one
Very well designed and constructed what a space saver but also very practical product with lots of extra uses👍
22 Uses for Z mount
To be honest, besides the Astro usage, we've never thought it could benefit the slider users those much until we received the below reviews!
For low angle and macro usage, we've never thought it too.
Thank you for all your brilliant find out. It encourages us a lot.

Below is a quick review of the journey, we hope you enjoy:
On the 14th June 2020, MSM ambassador Alyn Wallace told us that he has an idea for a new star tracker platform to solve the following problems:
- When at latitudes close to the equator it becomes very difficult to use the ball head on top of a star tracker.
-It’s also difficult to do panoramas, regardless of latitude.
Adding a “Star Tracker Platform” so that the ball head becomes level. The angle can be adjusted and locked into place and the platform can also be rotated. The platform is a perfect match for the Move Shoot Move rotator but also works with any star tracker..
Later, we researched all the possible alternative solutions, practicing and using, finally came to the first version as below:
1st Version, mainly verifying the mechanism to lock the angled platform and also the rotating base.
2nd Version, Enlarged the center rotation section.
- Wrapped the rotating disc to prevent dust entering.
- Changed screw to handle.
Added more space for the bottom handle, so we can operate with gloves.
And Finally, the final 5th Version, with some minor improvements to launch the production.

Work as a tripod head
The V platform is for those who want to save weight. If you're already using a heavy setup you may not have much room to add weight on top of the MSM which has a payload of 3kg.
The Z platform has the added benefit of being able to be used to replace the ball head on a tripod when not using a star tracker at all. You can also use the Z platform as a table-top tripod. So it's an exchange of versatility for a little added weight.
