This is Star Pointer for Astrophotography.
This Star Pointer can be used for Astro shooting, act as simple polar alignment without the equatorial mount.
Upgraded in Aug.2019,
- we just upgraded to the newest USB charger for star pointer's battery. So, you can charge your star pointer anywhere with your power bank or PC.
- Switch to the newest plastic screw for the mount to protect your Rotator's surface from scratch.
Laser Product, please don't aim the laser pointer at a person's head and eye!
This device allows you to photograph the Milky Way at lower ISOs and longer exposures. Unfortunately the information on the website is not very clear.
It works great with wide-angle lenses
Easy setup and great instructions.lots of support online to get you up and running.
I will probably use it for the first time later this year on a workshop… If I can find where I put it… May have to order a second one. I would have one suggestion on the Star pointer. The block you attach it to does not specifically state that one side or the other is used. It should… but that would be my only nit pick...
Ok, first of the shipping took some time, so be prepared to wait.
Pros: This thing i strong, and the beam is in my opinion great for alignment. Owning an other tracker, I took the mount and screwed that on, with no problem. Once there, this lasers absolut best option was used. Simply by tighten or lose the two adjustments screws, I was able to get a perfect configuration (the green beam hits Polaris in the middle of the trackers crosshair). Very nice.
Battery life is also not bad, only charged it once and used it 4 nights in a month.
Cons: The battery-spring broke and I had to melt in on
Green light laser was broken. Replaced free of charge. Customer support was very responsive.
I received the pointer and it works very well. It can handle up to 135mm lenses. Be sure the battery is set to the right direction in the pointer. The pointer is strong enough for a polar assignment (Polaris) at clear skies. Fully recommend for 135mm lenses on crop and below for some milky way shots as well. Attached some unedited footage taking with the canon 600da and 135mm f2 is USM on the msm tracker
I’ve had mostly cloudy weather since receiving my MSM tracker and polar alignment Star Pointer. When I finally had moonless and clear enough skien, to give a try, I found polar alignment quite easy through the little Star Pointer telescope and my constellation shots proved very satisfying after removing light pollution in post-processing. The sixty second exposures showed pin point stars with no tracking (I shot one constellation without tracking but at the same exposure just to see the difference and the obvious tracking). Definitely pleased, thank yau.
Excellent equipment, despite trouble with delivery still a very good service.
Good quality build. Laser is visible all the way to the target.
