The laser pointer is for polar alignment in the Northern Hemisphere.
After attaching it to the star tracker, simply turn it on and point it at Polaris. Once aligned, your polar alignment is complete.

  2. Remove the insulating paper inside the laser and the protective cap on the laser head.
  3. Screw the laser adapter onto the laser.
  4. Mount the laser to the back of the NOMAD.

How to Mount the Laser Pointer to Sky-Watcher or iOptron:

  1. Remove the insulating paper inside the laser and the protective cap on the laser head.
  2. Screw the laser into the SW Laser Adapter or IO Laser Adapter (depending on whether you are using a Sky-Watcher or iOptron star tracker).
  3. Attach the laser and adapter combo to the polar scope of your Sky-Watcher or iOptron mount.

For iOptron SkyGuider Pro (Threaded part inside), you’ll want to purchase the IO Laser Kit from this page: IO Laser Kit

📌SW Laser Adapter Kit is Also Compatible with the MSM Polar Scope

Thanks to Alex McGregor! He discovered that the SW Laser Adapter we originally designed for the Sky-Watcher series star trackers also works with the MSM Polar Scope. By using this adapter on the MSM Polar Scope, the laser blocking issue on the NOMAD can be resolved in most situations.

How to Use it?

  • Screw out the laser cap first

  • Attach the laser to the SW Laser Adapter

  • Attach this combo of laser and adapter to the polar scope and tighten it
  • Setup done

Works Easier and Better than Expected

I recently did a Milky Way shoot with a new MSM tracker (with wedge). Note- You also need a small ballhead on top of the unit so it is a three piece device, with the tracker in the middle. The key is the laser pointer, it takes 30 seconds to line it up on Polaris and you are good to go. I took 3 minutes shots of the Milky Way and was able to get pin point stars. I can not comment on deep sky tracking with a long lens, but it is a good, simple solution for extended exposure Milky Way shots.

Accurate and easy to usse

I am using the Polar Alignment pointer and its adaptor attached to the back of the Polar Scope of my iOptron SkyTracker Pro.

I get a good alignment on Polaris, and I think it’s easier to use than the Polar Scope.

Nomad and polar pointer

I recently upgraded to the Nomad tracker from the original Move Shoot Move tracker. Having (finally) had the chance to use the Nomad and the polar alignment pointer, I can confidently say the combination is light years ahead (!) of the original pairing. The Nomad is so easy to use, one switch for North or South and away to go. It's compact, lightweight, has a very secure attachment system = easy to set up - and quiet. Add the pointer to the Nomad body and polar alignment is simple. I was able to keep the pointer attached and only had to swivel my camera slightly to give the laser a clean line to polaris. Highly recommend both.

Item came as described and you can even use non rechargeable batteries. I purchased this item as a back up to my original.

Not complicated--the Nomad just works great!!

If you're new to taking night sky photos or even if you're a seasoned veteran, the Nomad by MSM is simple and easy to use and it just works great. No muss or fuss, just follow a few simple steps and start taking night sky shots. And to make things better, MSM is just as easy to work with. Great service and prompt communication is hard to beat.

An easy to use solution to long astro exposures

The MSM is very light to pack and carry, simple to set up and very easy to align with the laser pointer. I was up and running in 15 minutes. It worked very well on the first try.

Easy top use, perfect for travelling

I got an 8" telescope with autoguiding, GPS and all that stuff. But when I'm travelling with my motorhome this little tool is what I was looking for a journey. Light and with a Laserpointer easy and fast to adjust. Taking fotos from milky way or something like that is a great memory to your holiday
Really great
