it works. it allows for slow incremental adjustments during setup. if it is not self evident they have/had instructions available
Seems, on the surface to be a simple machine, and I guess to some extent, it is. However, once mounted to the camera, the simplicity becomes magic as the camera begins its march across the heavens, in such minute increments as to allow exposures of the MW in excruciating detail at 120 second exposures. Also, get the wedge!
The whole MSM autotracking system, the wedge, the tracker, the laser polar finding system is the best overall system I've tried. It's more portable, easier to set up and as accurate as any non-guided system out there. I like everything about it from the wedge all the way on up the system, and recommend MSM without reservations.
I am totally in love with the MSM wedge, it's a must have accessory to the tracker. The wedge simply makes polar alignment a breeze! So happy I bought it!
The MSM Wedge makes alignment much easier than using the typical ball head. For a new Astro shooter like myself....anything that makes the setup process easier is appreciated.
I bought the MSM rotator without wedge but for precise alignment it was really difficult to exactly position the laser pointer on the north star (without wedge is more difficult, at least for me). Later I have also purchased the wedge which makes fine adjustments very easy. I like the wedge because allows slower and more precise dialing in to place the North Star. Aligning using the laser pointer with the wedge is very simple, it only takes some seconds, so I highly recommend purchasing the wedge also. It's a great product and very reliable. It's of great quality.
great product and very reliable
I am impressed with the MSM tracker and tried it for milky way shots. results turned out to be pretty decent. Only issue is there is not enough compatibility chart of which lens to use and which not. I have seen people use 70-200mm which I am told is too heavy. otherwise its very portable to stay in the bag all the time
I like the wedge because allows slower and more precise dialing in to place the North Star in the right place on the reticle of the scope with the help of the PolarFinder app.
Small, light and portable. My polar alignment just got a BOOST! Best bang for your buck!
