V oder Z? Welche Plattform passt zu dir?

Sowohl die V- als auch die Z-Plattform lösen das gleiche Problem: Dein Kugelkopf steht auf dem Star Tracker oft in einem ungünstigen Winkel. Aber wo liegt der Unterschied?

  • V-Mount: Leicht und kompakt – perfekt, wenn dein Setup schon nah an der Traglastgrenze des MSM (3 kg) liegt. So sparst du jedes Gramm Gewicht.

  • Z-Mount: Bringt etwas mehr Gewicht mit, bietet dafür aber mehr Einsatzmöglichkeiten. Sie kann den Kugelkopf auf dem Stativ komplett ersetzen und lässt sich sogar als Mini-Tischstativ verwenden.

Fazit: Willst du vor allem Gewicht sparen, nimm die V. Willst du maximale Vielseitigkeit, nimm die Z.

Z mount as field rotator

I bought the Z mount plate to use in a build with OpenAstroTracker for easier framing with lenses without a collar. Plate is much lower than a tripod head but allows me to partially rotate camera in both directions. I don't know if all this will work because I still haven't completed the build, but plate is very well made, bolt levers are on springs so they can be set to ideal position. Recommended for variety of uses.

My first tracker!

I am very new to astrophotography and after a lot of research I decided to get Nomad. I needed something light and efective to take on my travels and Nomad delivered. The was a learning curve in how to use laser and scope for allignment, but after a couple of times of practicing I got it. What i do like about it: it is easy to assemble and operate, you can put the tracker in your pocket and hike the mountains, it delivers stunning images without star trails ( i only braved 120s exposure). What I dont like: the size and weight of all the gear you need to cary ( geared head,ballhead,v-plate, scope, laser) to photograph, how cumbersome everything looks and feels when assembled, the way scope and laser connect to Nomad and you need to move v-plate for allignment, and then move it back.
Overall, I will buy it again.

Great idea but not stable

I have many parts of the tracker system and satisfied with most. However the V platform cannot be secured tight enough to prevent slippage. I have the lever engaged all the way but it doesn't stay put. I have temporarily stopped using it until I can see what can be adjusted but it seems there is some tolerance inside that is not allowing a full tightening. The other issue is that when trying to adjust the lever, it makes contact with the MSM rotator.

Move Shoot Move Tracker

I have been photographing the Milky Way for a few years, but this year I decided to purchase the MSM Nomad Tracker. I found the tracker easy to use and the results are incredible. An 80 second exposure of the MW with the Nomad Tracker was focused, bright and rendered a much more colorful image.

Excellently manufactored

Z&V Mount both are solid and stable tools for astro photography when using a star tracker. They are also very helpful in macro and panorama photography. Handling with gloves is no problem.
