V or Z? Which Should You Choose?

Both V and Z platforms solve the issue of awkward ballhead angles on a star tracker.

V Platform: Lightweight solution, ideal if your setup is already heavy. Supports the MSM payload of 3.5 kg.
Z Platform: Slightly heavier but versatile. Can replace a ball head on a tripod, function as a tabletop tripod, and be used without a star tracker.

What a difference with Z & V mounts

I made a first try out on my Gitzo traveller tripod with both
Mounts in combination with the Nomad and need to say that it feels very sturdy and easy to change the angles.

very nice quality

The product is of nice quality. It makes mounting a ball head much easier. If there's 360 degree rotator in the top plate that will be the best. But most bigger ball heads has this capability, so it's not a deal breaker.

V mount

The item was a great help as connecting the camera directly on the move shoot move was a bit of a pain when aligneing the camera to the pole with the v mount this helps a lot not had the clear Skys to try the move shoot out yet but it’s a must if anyone is thinking of buying it

Z & V Mount Tilt and Pan Heads

I’ve had the opportunity to put my Z and V mounts to good use. I use the V mount on my MSM tracker. This helps to get the camera up and out of the way of the pole alignment tools and makes it more readily accessible. I use the Z mount in place of a tripod when I want to get my camera low to the ground, such as by a lake or pond for reflections. I think there may be other uses for them that I have not identified yet.
