Ordered them both and they both are very good guality products. Use them with msm startracker to level camera.
I just experienced my first night shooting trip with the Move shoot move tracker and had been amazed by the device considering the light weight of it. Very easy to setup and handle. I would recommend it 100% especially for those who want to reduce backpack weight content.
I use it as a base for my MSM Rotator to keep it small an travel friendly. Works like a charm for LASER alignment polaris since the two axis are seperated. Very sturdy. I just need to mount the msm in standing position or upside down (controls facing down towards the ground) if I mount it on the back because the V Mount screw is blocked by the rotator to turn freely if I mount it on the back.
Still no biggie. Great work and very high quality.
This versatile camera mount pairs well with the MSM star tracker to make a portable system. I use it to make Milky Way panoramas. Great product!
It works really good. The online Thing to improove would be the scale on the side - it's hard to see in the night.
Z/V mount for low angle & astro, designed with Alyn Wallace, UK
The Alyn Wallace Z mount is awesome! I don’t know why I waited so long to get one. It’s an absolute must for star tracking. Getting your camera angle right is a breeze with this little mount.
Sadly I've not been able to review this because all my camera equipment was stolen from my car 😅 then my z mount arrived the next day 😅 when I buy a new one I'll review it for you
Great equipment but I haven't got around to use.
To be honest, besides the Astro usage, we've never thought it could benefit the slider users those much until we received the below reviews!
For low angle and macro usage, we've never thought it too.
Thank you for all your brilliant find out. It encourages us a lot.

Below is a quick review of the journey, we hope you enjoy:
On the 14th June 2020, MSM ambassador Alyn Wallace told us that he has an idea for a new star tracker platform to solve the following problems:
- When at latitudes close to the equator it becomes very difficult to use the ball head on top of a star tracker.
-It’s also difficult to do panoramas, regardless of latitude.
Adding a “Star Tracker Platform” so that the ball head becomes level. The angle can be adjusted and locked into place and the platform can also be rotated. The platform is a perfect match for the Move Shoot Move rotator but also works with any star tracker..
Later, we researched all the possible alternative solutions, practicing and using, finally came to the first version as below:
1st Version, mainly verifying the mechanism to lock the angled platform and also the rotating base.
2nd Version, Enlarged the center rotation section.
- Wrapped the rotating disc to prevent dust entering.
- Changed screw to handle.
Added more space for the bottom handle, so we can operate with gloves.
And Finally, the final 5th Version, with some minor improvements to launch the production.
Below is the performance of the MSM Platform

Work as a tripod head
The V platform is for those who want to save weight. If you're already using a heavy setup you may not have much room to add weight on top of the MSM which has a payload of 3kg.
The Z platform has the added benefit of being able to be used to replace the ball head on a tripod when not using a star tracker at all. You can also use the Z platform as a table-top tripod. So it's an exchange of versatility for a little added weight.
