Difference between MOVE SHOOT MOVE NOMAD and MSM Rotator:
Improved attachment points.Ā The previous manufacturing tolerances were fine for Astro-landscape but deep-sky needs a firmer foundation.
The MSM Rotator, due to its design, required specific weight positioning to keep the ball head secure; this has been completely eliminated.Ā Ā
The laser now screws into the tracker eliminating any chance of wobble.Ā Ā
The industry standard quick-release plate on the bottom is secured in 2 places preventing any twisting of the tracker on its mount.Ā Ā
Improved load capacity.Ā Ā
The hardware has been built to withstand twice the amount of torque as the MSM Rotator.Ā
Where the MSM Rotator was only designed for wide-angle Astro-landscape, the MOVE SHOOT MOVE NOMAD has been designed with wide-field deep-sky use in mind.Ā Ā
Availability of an optional counterweight system for more experienced users to go even deeper.
Simplified operation.Ā By designing and building a device with a narrower focus we were able to make it better while keeping the size down.
One 3-position switch; Northern hemisphere, Southern, or Off.Ā Ā
In order to improve on our goals of ease of use and portability, the non-tracker function of the MSM Rotator has been left off, greatly simplifying the operation of the new tracker.Ā Ā
The MOVE SHOOT MOVE NOMAD is focused on one function, star tracking.Ā Ā (MOVE SHOOT MOVE NOMAD can be used to take timelapse of the night sky, but it does not have the so called Move Shoot Move timelapse mode of the previous Rotator)Ā
Reduced size and weight.Ā Ā A foremost feature of our trackers is portability.Ā
Our users take our trackers with them even when backpacking to some of the most remote areas of the world.Ā
We worked to make storing and transporting the tracker even easier so you'll always want to have it with you when traveling.
The tracker is called MOVE SHOOT MOVE NOMAD for a reason; it is designed to travel with you wherever you go.Ā Ā

Good right out of the box
Finally had a chance to use my new Nomad and it was so much fun! Easy to use right out of the box and I got some great results my first night using it. Looking forward to using the Nomad a lot more this summer.

Nomad MSM ā Small Tracker, Big Results
The Nomad MSM is an incredibly compact and lightweight star tracker, perfect for wide-field astrophotography and Milky Way shots. Setup is fast and easy, especially with the laser or polar scope. Despite its size, tracking accuracy is impressive ā Iāve captured sharp 2-3 minute exposures at focal lengths up to 85mm.
Itās USB rechargeable, travel-friendly, and ideal for both beginners and experienced users looking for a portable solution. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to keep things light without sacrificing results.

No fuss Tracker, MSM Nomad scores
Initially I had doubts about how well this small Nomad tracker and wedge would achieve and maintain polar alignment accuracy, using just my PS Align Pro app, no laser, no polar scope. I used the āsouthern hemisphereā method with the Nomad tracker and wedge, and a sturdy tripod. I setup a full frame camera, hefty prime lens, fairly heavy RRS ball head with a panoramic rotator and z plate. I do have several years of experience in polar aligning, using polar scopes, with and without lasers on heavier, more complex trackers. I would sometimes dread dealing with low light scopes and the often tedious process of guiding the wedge to pinpoint Polaris on the reticle. The Nomad southern hemisphere setup, along with PS Align Pro app has set me free! In a few short minutes I am taking test shots. And alignment holds through the entire shoot. After more than 90 minutes tracking, I put on a 50mm for 2 minute exposures and still had pinpoint stars. Easy to pack, quick to set up, align, and maintain alignment, whatās not exciting about that. Iām not ready to sell my heavier tracking gear but having this lighter option has been a welcomed addition.

Brilliant portable star tracker
I've used three star trackers for widefield astrophotography over the past few years and this has - by far - been the most enjoyable to use. Simple, lightweight and quick to set up and get going. And it did the job straight out of the box the first time I used it. I can't wait for the true dark nights to come back so I can use it more.
