This is my first star tracker/MSM device. I was initially looking for something small and not too expensive to get started. After a little research and watching many reviews I decided on the MSM. Once received I was impressed by the small size and portability this offered. I choose the laser pointer, along with two ball heads to complete my setup. After reading through the documentation it was easy to get going. I have begun with a couple of tracked milky way shots along with a MSM time lapse of the aurora. I’m very happy with the results. I’m hoping for clear skies to get out and shoot more.

I have used it so far several times in a location (balcony) where polar alignment was not possible with the laser or the scope. I used an app on the phone to do a 'blind' alignment and I was surprised with the results: I was able to do 5 minute exposures with no trailing on different lenses up to 35mm. I also used it on a second occasion with the same set up, and I was able to do 2min-3min exposures zwith a 135mm lens with no trailing.

Overall worth every single euro I put into this. It is limited in terms of weight (I put a D800 with a Nikon 105mm lens and I don't think I would put anything bigger on the tracker) but excellent at what it does!

Thanks for your prompt shipment of the nylon screws to secure my laser onto my "original" rotator. They arrived before my trip to the desert, so I didn't have to use the hardware store metal ones I bought as a backup!

Screws are great, better have them

The screws are very precisely manufactured and hold the fastenings / parts very well.

Just stocking up for the inevitable loss of small bits and pieces.

I ordered an MSM ajile back and it did not come with this screw. I thought I just couldn’t figure out how to use the MSM, so I just set it in the closet to figure out another time. After months passed, I was determined to figure it out so I could use it on my trip to Iceland. I discovered the shipment was missing the screw and that was why I couldn’t get it to work initially. When contacting customer service to state the issue, they told me I could get a screw from a local hardware store or order it from them at full price ($10).

The shipment was missing a screw and they would not make it right. I’m disappointed. I had no choice but spend the extra money so I could make my MSM work.

Screws perfect replacement, universal scope/ pointer bracket is so much better than original. The original bracket will be perfect for pointing camera.

Portable and easy to use. Longer exposures mean less noise, deeper colour and fainter objects can be captured. MSM opens up a new level of astrophotography, which can be taken anywhere.

This is my first star tracker and I'm really quite impressed with the result. Living in the southern hemisphere I use the phone mount to polar align and it works surprisingly well! Definitely a key addition to my astro-photography kit.

after purchasing my msm rotator,great piece of kit,i had a problem with my hot shoe cable adaptor...after a couple of emails explaining the problem a new cable arrived in the post,foc.thanks msm for a great product and customer service,regards,stuart royle.
