I have no issues with the laser itself - but, it will work for "rough pointing" of the Adventurer 2i to the destination star. The exact alignment - still must depend on visual sighting with the polar scope. But for wide angle photography (24mm and wider) - where accurate alignment is not that necessary - it works.
Getting spare batteries and a charger is more problematic - not easy to find.
The MSM tracker with its bracket-mounted laser introduced me to the convenience of laser-assisted initial polar alignment. I then used the MSM laser for initial polar alignment of my iOptron Sky Guider Pro as well, by holding the laser so it beamed through the Sky Guider’s polar scope. It was tricky to hold the laser in the exact position while adjusting mount azimuth and altitude with the other hand, but worth the effort. When MSM announced their Quick Polar Finder I ordered one immediately. It mates securely to the Sky Guider polar scope, leaving both hands free for azimuth and altitude adjustment, and the Quick Polar Finder is a permanent part of my Sky Guider kit. I’m no longer borrowing the laser from the MSM kit. Initial laser alignment ensures that Polaris is within the polar scope field of view, ready for fine polar alignment.
This product makes locking in on the north star so much easier. For the nominal cost of the polar finder it's a no brainer. Makes astrophotography so much more enjoyable.
It makes the work much easier to make a quick approach to the polar star, and it is even perfectly valid to make an approximate polar alignment with my star-tracker.
I don’t usually write reviews, but I had to for this excellent product. I purchased an iOptron Starguider Pro and for the first couple of days, it was very difficult to align Polaris in the small telescope view of the StarGuider as in the dark spots, there are no many stars closer to it. This little tool makes star align so easy even if you reach the spot after it’s dark ( it’s somehow easier to find and align Polaris without this tool if you are at the spot during twilight ).
The customer support is also great as the team reached out to me to confirm my SkyGuider Pro compatibility before shipping the product.
It’s a worthy investment for anyone using Star Guiders without laser guide.
It makes the calibration easy
This pointer fits the skywatcher star adventurer mini as well as its bigger brother, looking forward to trying it out soon, maybe even tonight?
The Quick Polar Finder makes it easy to align the Tracker to Polaris - it fits perfect on my SkyGuider.
I previously owned the MSM tracker with the laser pointer and loved how quick and easy it was to polar align. When I upgraded to the SWSA, I sorely missed the laser pointer so much that I actually hot glue gunned a cold shoe on the side of the SWSA and used the laser pointer from the MSM.
Fast forward a couple months and they came out with a laser pointer specifically for the SWSA and it has been so worth it! Once I calibrated my laser pointer, I was able to get locked on Polaris in seconds. If I wanted to after, I could remove the ladder and precisely polar align with the scope. This little tool has saved me minutes and the hassle of polar aligning with the SWSA. I highly recommend this item. If you do get this, make sure to calibrate the laser pointer first so that way it is in alignment.
This small gadget makes working with the Star Adventurer a lot easier and quicker, love it!
