My camera and lens combined equal to 6.35 pounds, Will you still recommend the MSM to my current device?
Q: My camera and lens combined equal to 6.35 pounds, Will you still recommend the MSM to my current device?
MSM: This is a really good question. The Move Shoot Move rotator (MSM) is designed as a pocket-size star tracker. So the max payload of the MSM is 6.6Lbs.
If you mainly use a wide-angle lens, the 6.35 pounds should be all right.
For this device with the lens under 135mm, please make sure the gravity center of your camera is as close as possible to the rotating plate of the MSM rotator. Many users in the MSM FB group have done some great deep sky shots, even it is challenging.
However, if you use a lens beyond 200mm and have not been careful with weight balance, this setup will push the MSM rotator to its limit.
