The fact that such a small tracking motor can give you a sky without trails for more than 2 minutes for smaller lenses makes it worthwhile. Within the payload limit, you can also go for larger lenses, but pay attention to the balance of your setup. The phone alignment option does wonders, in particular when the sky is partially cloudy and you have to prepare beforehand.

However so far I am amazed at the performance of this little wizard. I highly recommend this if anyone is looking for a simple, quick setup with great portability.

Really loving the tracker. Easy to setup! Lightweight and compact so I can easily carry on hikes and potentially on backpacking trips. One of the best for wide angle tracking and panoramas. Very quick shipment from Sydney warehouse. Clouds and moon have unfortunately prevented me from getting good use of the Nomad so far but what I have done looks pretty good. 50mm 60s is no problem and I managed to get a half decent Orion stack.

The tracker works a treat! It's precise and just what you'd hope for.
On my first use without previous experience with using trackers managed to get 60s exposure using 200mm lens and capture image of the Lemmon commet I could previously only dream of.

My only problem was with the rotating base - it is too thin. The issue is that the locking screw ends lower than the Arca-swiss plate and when installed on a tripod with large diameter base plate (I am using Gitzo), the screw rubs against the plate, making it impossible to use it at all. If you have any kind of "travel" tripods though it's not an issue as they have much smaller base plates.
Also the ballhead I have receieved was faulty but it was immediately replaced by MSM, so thank you.
Overall, I think it's excellent product, well worth the money.

Have only used this once and very happy with the results and minimal set up time and alignment using the mobile bracket and Sky Safari 6 as per Richard Tatti's YouTube video on using this kit

Coming from a deep sky astrophotography setup to the Nomad was so refreshingly simple. Just point it, turn it on, and shoot. Stoked to take it traveling this summer.

This is so amazing. Simple and easy to set up. Finding the SCP is simple and fast. I have been able to capture the core of our Milky Way at 12, 24, 50, and 105 with perfect tracking. This is now my go to on clear nights in our Southern Hemisphere.

I am very happy with my Nomad in the UK. I bought the Richard Tatti Bundle having followed him on Youtube for a few years. The kit arrived in good time and is very complete.

The equipment is very well made and I felt it was good value.

Although I plan on using the Nomad for Milky Way images, in fact, my first shoot was Deep Sky. The opportunity to shoot Rho Ophiuchi region is fairly rare in the UK. A chance came a couple of days after my Nomad kit arrived.

I shot my Ha modified Canon 700D + Samyang 135 at f/2. As it was my first use of the Nomad, I kept exposures short at 30 secs and all stars were very sharp. I had done the Polar Alignment using my mobile phone & Sky Safari, per R.T. and that was easy and went well.

I took the Nomad kit to Stonehenge last night to get the Milky Way rising over the stone circle. I was using my Nikon Z8 + Z 24-70mm S f/2.8 lens. All went well with the PA again, but I then found that I had left the camera foot plate for the Ball Head at home....So, not tracked shots. All my fault.

I had a Star Watcher Star Adventurer for 4 years. It was robust but much too big and heavy to take anywhere with me by air.

I will be traveling to southern Spain later this year and the Nomad kit will be on the plane with me.

Overall, I think the equipment is very well designed and made. Happy Customer here.

So far, really good. Did lots of You Tube watching, and now very easy to use and results are ok. More practice required to fet better.

The Richard Tatti kit is an excellent choice for anyone starting out in MW photography (like me). The MSM tracker itself is really easy to use and unbelievably lightweight and very portable.

The additional kit is all nicely machined and feels solid. Alignment using Sky Safari is very easy once you’ve got the hang of it. I’m in the northern hemisphere but have been aligning to the Southern celestial pole as it is easier when using the supplied phone holder. My only criticism would be that the phone holder could have a wider back to it to help ensure that the phone is sitting perfectly flat on the holder.

I was little sceptical at first about aligning before attaching the tracker to the wedge. However this works well for me and it is best not to have the tracker anywhere near your phone when aligning as it really can impact the compass. The same goes for wearing a smart watch. However, with those in mind the alignment achieved is more than good enough for decent exposure times using anywhere between 14 and 35mm lenses. I’ve not yet tried longer lenses but I’m pretty confident that going longer wouldn’t be an issue.

Overall, this kit was everything that I needed to get started apart from maybe a levelling base… oh and some clear skies!

Received item fairly quickly and very well packaged. I’m very impressed with the full kit and it’s excellent build quality. The kit was well priced for the amount of items included and the ease of putting it to use. I highly recommend this kit for anyone in the southern hemisphere.

Nomad star tracker Richard Tatti Edition (Northern Hemisphere Field Test)
I’ve just wrapped up a series of sessions with the Move Shoot Move (MSM) Nomad Richard Tatti Edition kit, and I felt it was worth highlighting just how "flawless" the new adaptations have made the workflow for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. While Richard Tatti is a legend for his Southern Hemisphere work, this specific kit iteration solves the most common "friction points" that traditionally plague portable trackers. The leap from the original MSM Rotator to the Nomad is significant, but the real story here is the mechanical synergy of the new accessories.
In the Northern Hemisphere, polar alignment is often a trade-off between the speed of a laser and the precision of a polar scope. This kit bridges that gap perfectly with the calibrated laser pointer and the Arca-Swiss phone mount adaptation. By using the phone mount for a "rough-in" via an app and the laser for a precise strike on Polaris, I was able to achieve sub-pixel tracking on a 50mm lens for 90-second exposures within minutes of setting down my tripod. The new 360° Panning Base and the upgraded wedge are the unsung heroes here; they provide a much firmer foundation than previous versions, effectively doubling the torque capacity and eliminating the "creep" that used to occur when locking down heavy full-frame setups.
What makes these adaptations feel truly seamless is the way the kit handles the "Z-axis" challenge. The integration of the V-mount and the low-profile ball head allows for much more aggressive camera angles without the gear colliding with the tracker body—a common headache with the older Rotator. For anyone shooting from the Northern latitudes, where the celestial pole sits higher in the sky, these refinements mean you spend less time wrestling with your ball head and more time capturing clean, tracked data. It’s a rare example of a "travel" kit that doesn't feel like a compromise in the field.

I absolutely love my Nomad. It is simple to set up and use and is accurate.
