Thanks to Steven Barnes and Dylan O'Donnell, a new phone mount adapter has been developed to make polar alignment simpler and more efficient. This adapter allows you to securely attach a phone mount to MSM polar scope, Skywatcher Polar Scope and iOptron Skyguider Pro Polar Scope, Celestron Polar Scope and other polar scopes with eyepiece diameters of less than 30.1mm, enabling initial alignment through your phone, followed by precise adjustments using the polar scope.

MSM phone mount

The phone mount is good quality build and fits nicely on my explore scientific goto mount polar eyepiece. However, the only one screw to tighten the thing is bad. I bored and tapped two extra holes for additional thumb screws which should have been there in the first place. But, it works decent for daytime polar alignment!

MSM Phone Mount for Polar Scope

A great addition to the MSM line-up. The Phone Mount for the Polar scope makes setting up the Tracker a lot easier on Skywatcher or similar equatorial mounts. Fitting over the eyepiece of the polar scope allows Polar Alignment with a smartphone in line with the actual polar alignment on the tracker. Recommended to see Dylan O'Donnell's "How to Polar Align with NO STARS" you tube video, excellent for those of us in the southern hemisphere, or anyone with a restricted view of the celestial pole.
