A polar scope helps you accurately align your NOMAD with Earth’s axis, improving tracking precision for astrophotography.

Polar Scope A works seamlessly in both hemispheres:
Inner reticle: For users in the Northern Hemisphere
Outer Octans icon: For users in the Southern Hemisphere

Option 1: Polar Scope A Package For NOMAD

This polar scope Kit is for the NOMAD tracker, it includes:

  • Polar Scope A
  • Polar Scope Mount for NOMAD
  • Fluorescent illuminator (looking like a white tube)

[Click here] to learn how to use it.

Option 2: Polar Scope Mount for NOMAD

If you are an MSM user wanting to upgrade your tracker to NOMA and you are wondering, will my polar scope work on NOMAD?  Yes, your polar scope can work on NOMAD by this polar scope mount.

Option 4: Polar Scope Fluorescent Illuminator

The white tube-shaped light is the fluorescent light for the polar scope, attach it to the end of the polar scope. Shine it with a light from a phone or headlamp or others for one minute, then this light will glow in the dark.

Option 5: Metal Polar Scope Illuminator

This CNC polar scope illuminator introduces a red light feature, unlike the illuminator of the previous version. The red light illuminates only the polar scope's reticle without affecting the entire lens screen, making stars easier to observe. The brightness of the red light is adjustable using the top knob.
NOTE: This metal polar scope illuminator is compatible only with MSM Polar Scope A.

Specification:
Color:
Black
Bottom Screw:
M6×1
Batteries:
LR754×2
Weight:
111g
Height:
53.5mm
Note: The light can still work when the MSM right-angle viewfinder is attached to the polar scope.

How to Use the Illuminator:

  1. Install the batteries:
  • Unscrew the illuminator body.

  • Insert two LR754 cell batteries into the battery compartment, ensuring the positive side is facing upward.
  • Screw the illuminator body back together to secure the batteries.
  1. Attach to the polar scope: Screw the illuminator into the threaded hole on Polar Scope A.
  1. Turn on the illuminator: Rotate the top knob to the right to activate the red light.
  1. Align and Fine-Tune: You are ready to do the polar alignment now. During alignment, you can adjust the red light brightness by turning the knob left or right as needed.

Option 6: Right Angle Viewfinder + Adapter

This right-angle viewfinder provides a more ergonomic and comfortable way to look through your polar scope. The eyepiece sits at a 90° angle to the polar scope and can rotate 360° around the scope’s axis. Simply attach it to your polar scope, take your time, and perform a precise, thorough alignment with ease.

    Features:

    • Adjustable diopter for individual eyesight correction
    • Switchable 1x and 2x magnification
    • Multiple click-stop eyepiece positions for flexible viewing angles

      Compatibility

      • MSM Polar Scope A
      • MSM Polar Scope B (unavailable now, replaced by the newest Polar Scope A)

      Amazing!

I am a complete beginner in astrophotography with an equatorial mount, and I started out entirely on my own. Choosing the right accessories wasn't easy, but I managed it, thanks to the website's resources. I did make one mistake by ordering an accessory I didn't need, but returning it for a refund was very easy with the help of customer service. As for the equipment itself, it's fantastic! It's compact, lightweight, and easy to set up. The range of accessories is great, allowing you to gear up based on exactly what you want to do and how you want to do it. Polar alignment is quick and easy (I used the laser pointer and the polar scope, along with a right-angle adapter). Star tracking is highly effective. I actually managed to capture my first image of the North America Nebula on my very first attempt—60 exposures of 2 minutes each—and it looks absolutely stunning! I am thrilled, this opens up a whole new world for me to photograph and admire!

      MSM Nomad

I bought a nomad and equipped it with a 360⁰ rotator, wedge, V-mount, laser and polar scope with right angle view finder. Polar alignment is a breeze, and subs with a ZWO ASI662MC attached to various prime lens allows for greater than 3 minute exposures. Tons of fun on camping trips when I'd rather not transport bigger scopes. Love it!!!

      First time using polar scope

I have been using the original MSM with the laser alignment for several years. With proper calibration and alignment the laser has worked pretty good. I now have been using the Nomad with a laser. I finally purchased a laser and right angle. My sky and stars are so much sharper. I am not able to find the North star without using the laser first. Once its laser aligned I can see the North star in the scope and can zero in on it. WHAT A DIFFERENCE !
I do wish that the mount for both the laser and polar scope could use the same mounting bracket on the NOMAD.

      Polar scope

Arrived very quick. Unfortunately not had chance to actually use at present, due to the constant Rainfall & Clouds. Even without using scope, just the laser can produce great images from a fantastic Nomad tracker

      First milky way in Switzerland

I get the Nomad and i went to a location in Switzerland to try the nomad with the polar scope for shooting Milkyway .Doing 2 shots one 4 Minutes with 20 mm Fuji GFX with Nomad on ,and one shot with nomad of ,combining the 2 Pichtures in Photoshop .adjusting the Nomadtraker with Polarscope was easy.
I don’t use the Laserpointer ,because its not allowed in Germany and Switzerland.

      Great Product at affordable price

This review is for the MSM as a whole : Honestly it just works great, it's very simple if you take the time to understand how to use it correctly, on my first try I got amazing images. I would recommend getting the V or Z plate with an additional ball head for more comfort. The basic set up works fine but can feel limited because of how the camera gets in the way of the ball head and scope. Special thanks to Hanna from support team that helped me greatly

Must have for your Polar Scope Type-A —> Metal Polar Scope Illuminator

If you’re using the Move Shoot Move (MSM) polar scope, this battery-operated reticle illuminator is a must-have accessory. I initially struggled with the default fluorescent-style illuminator—it was frustrating to use, and I was nearly ready to give up on it altogether. I even considered going back to my old Vixen Polarie scope with its built-in illuminator. But that setup is bulky and far more expensive (approx $300) than the MSM kit (even though the Polarie scope does fit into the MSM alignment adapter).

Before getting the dedicated MSM illuminator, I resorted to awkward workarounds—like shining a red headlamp into the tiny screw hole at the top of the polar scope. It worked, but just barely. Managing the red light intensity was a constant battle, often too bright and overpowering the stars, making alignment difficult.

By contrast, the MSM reticle illuminator is thoughtfully designed. It attaches easily and lets you dial in the perfect amount of red light—just enough to faintly illuminate the reticle without washing out the stars. That subtle control makes a huge difference in achieving an accurate polar alignment.

One tip: be sure to unscrew and turn off the illuminator once you’re finished aligning to avoid draining the battery. I have even used this Metal Illuminator as a light to check the settings on the camera.

For just $33, this is a fantastic upgrade that makes polar alignment with the MSM system much easier and more enjoyable. I highly recommend it.

      Great Product !

I upgraded from the original MSM star tracker to the newer Nomad unit. While I really liked the original, the Nomad represents great improvements. It is more compact, sturdier, and easier to use. I have had great success with both units, but I really love the new Nomad and the upgraded accessories that come with it.

MSM Nomad with Polar Scope and Alyn Wallace V-Mount

Incredible products and great service! I am still in the early learning stages of astrophotography, recently decided to add a star tracker, and after watching reviews on many different trackers and mounts I liked what I saw with Nomad. It has definitely lived up to the hype! Thank you!

      excellent addition

I picked up the polar scope as an add on to my Nomad tracker. VERY handy to get final precise alignment in combination with a phone app that tells me where to place polaris on the circle. My scope does not have the same "clock" numbers as the training video, so I'm hoping I'm orienting it correctly... we'll see on longer lens shots of galaxies.. But it is worth having to align perfectly.

      Powerful compact tracker!

I took this out for the first time in Yellowstone and it was so easy to set up and use. The only issue I had was with the new scope and laser holder. Since it attaches much closer to the tracker, I had to adjust my camera and Z plate so they did not obstruct the path of the laser. All in all, a great tracker!

Not five stars due to the Polar Scope!

Everything works as expected. The Nomad is much easier to operate than its predecessor and offers excellent results for its category. My only complaint is about the Polar Scope A Kit for Nomad. I cannot offer an opinion because I have been unable to operate it as I cannot make sense of the image! (Image included) Is it too much to ask for a video or a small PDF clarifying how it is supposed to use it? Do you get the idea? I really hope so!

      Love the little tracker!

Love the size of tracker. Timelapse’s are a cinch. I use the laser to get close then zero in with Polar Scope. I just use laser if using my 20mm lens and Polar Scope when using 85mm plus. Works like a charm! Tracker has only sidereal option but during 3 hr eclipse only had to readjust tracker twice. Very happy with it.

      Awesome polar scope

Polar scope and the reticular pattern are great. I am able to polar-align in minutes. in areas with low intermediate light pollution using the laser along with the polar scope make things a lot easier. The fluorescent eliminator make things extremely easy in the dark. I am new to this hobby. This is the second stacked picture I took, a otal of 28 pictures of 45 sseconds each. I wish I ccould have taken more but the clouds covered the sky soon after. I used a Canon t3i with an EF 100-300 lens.

      First timer

Good stuff, no minus what so ever.
Maybe one thing, that I dident get the information about a new rotator was coming out. I had ofcourse bought that one instead.
But happy enought with mine anyway

      Makes polar alignment a snap!

Between the polar alignment laser for Star Adventurer 2i and the hot shoe adapter I can use to mount the laser on my Canon T7 and line up my shots. That's how I managed to get a picture of Mars and comet ZTF>
