This really helps me to polar align my mount quicker. This is especially helpful when you're doing you're doing you're rough polar alignment when it's dark. It asshres you that you're looking at Polaris in your PA scope and not some other star. My only concern is the battery it uses. They could've used a much more accessible type of battery.
Item was delivered promptly and works fine. It is very helpful in aligning the tracker to north star.
This laser kit is great! Once adjusted, it really made aligning my Sky Adventurer and EQ5 mount so much easier. Tip: I wrapped some tape around the barrel of the polar scopes so it’s the same diameter as the adjustment ring at the end of the polar scopes - made securing the laser mount better.
I also use the camera hot shoe mount for it.
It’s bright! As it should be. I don’t care what the power output really is - I know not to point lasers in the wrong direction and I keep aware of possible aircraft in the area so no problem!
You only need to use the laser for a few seconds to align but it saves a lot (and I mean a lot), of time and greatly reduces frustration. I can easily imagine it’ll be a good tool for my upcoming winter photo sessions (-20!).
One of my favourite astrophotographic accessories - I’m serious!
The Product works as advertised!!
It s a essential tool for polar align. Now, I m sure that I shoot the polar star
I currently use the Sky Watcher Star Adventurer 2I and it's a decent tracker but it does lack a laser to help when you want to setup quickly. The MSM laser attachment helps to have everything setup within minutes. I manage 3 minute exposures at 135mm just by using th laser.
The Item fits perfect to my StarAdventurer. The quality seems to be quiet strong. The produkt seems to be well thougt out, too. So I think it's absolutely worth it.
I recommend the Quick Polar Finder for Skywatcher Star Adventurer 2i. The laser pointer system is much quicker and easire to use than the optical polar scope included with the Skywatcher Star Adventurer 2i. You can easily align precisely in just a few minutes - and do not need the clumsy Skywatcher illuminator that requires emoving tthe payload to attach. The MSM Quick Polar Finder is well made and can accept recargeable batteries.
I have no issues with the laser itself - but, it will work for "rough pointing" of the Adventurer 2i to the destination star. The exact alignment - still must depend on visual sighting with the polar scope. But for wide angle photography (24mm and wider) - where accurate alignment is not that necessary - it works.
Getting spare batteries and a charger is more problematic - not easy to find.
The MSM tracker with its bracket-mounted laser introduced me to the convenience of laser-assisted initial polar alignment. I then used the MSM laser for initial polar alignment of my iOptron Sky Guider Pro as well, by holding the laser so it beamed through the Sky Guider’s polar scope. It was tricky to hold the laser in the exact position while adjusting mount azimuth and altitude with the other hand, but worth the effort. When MSM announced their Quick Polar Finder I ordered one immediately. It mates securely to the Sky Guider polar scope, leaving both hands free for azimuth and altitude adjustment, and the Quick Polar Finder is a permanent part of my Sky Guider kit. I’m no longer borrowing the laser from the MSM kit. Initial laser alignment ensures that Polaris is within the polar scope field of view, ready for fine polar alignment.
